Borussia Dortmund want to respect Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s wishes of leaving the squad during the upcoming transfer window. However, the Bundesliga giants are not going to wait the whole summer to see how the situation unfolds.
According to Bild in a report that was later published by MARCA, Dortmund have given Aubameyang a deadline for his transfer. If there are no offers by July 26, then the club will force the Gabon striker to remain at Signal Iduna Park until his contracts ends in 2020.
Aubameyang has been very vocal about his desire of leaving the club, but few teams have been willing to meet Dortmund’s asking price of €70 million. Real Madrid, PSG, Arsenal and Manchester City have all been mentioned as potential targets, but no team has approached Dortmund yet.
“The club is willing to listen any offers, but they must adjust to our financial expectations when it comes to a potential transfer,” Hans-Joachim Watzke, Dortmund’s administrative director, said in an interview over the past few days.
There were talks of a potential move from Aubameyang to China, but that has been discarded by both the player and the club. PSG were considered the front-runners to land him, but decided to step away from a potential bidding war considering Edinson Cavani is not going anywhere.
Aubameyang would certainly be a quality signing, though. The African striker was the top scorer in the Bundesliga last season thanks to 31 goals in 34 appearances.
